Monday in Pentecost Week

 (9 June 2014, 25 May 2015)

GOD, who as at this time did teach the hearts of your faithful people, by the sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit; Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through the merits of Christ Jesus our Savior, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end.

Numbers 11:24-30; Cantate Domino; Acts 10:34-38; John 3:16-21

Continuing the Pentecost celebration, today we see a little more of the results and ramifications of this event.  The preaching of the Gospel has launched Christianity beyond its Jewish origin to be available to all nations.  In the Old Testament, Moses wished that the power of the Spirit would fall on more than a select few.  In Acts we find that happening: the good news Jesus preached in the Gospel is now taking effect among non-Jewish believers.

* the Cantate Domino is an anthem composed of Psalm 98:1, Acts 2:33, Galatians 4:6, and 2 Corinthians 3:18

About Fr. Brench

I'm an Anglican Priest and a sci-fi geek. Therefore, I write about liturgy & spiritual formation, theology & biblical studies, and Doctor Who. But I keep those blogs separate so I don't confuse too many people!
